Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix live updates: Time, how to watch, betting favorites, more

Just as in the Sprint, the drivers could be faced with a wet track surface when the lights go out for the Miami Grand Prix. This time it’s Red Bull’s Max Verstappen on pole, with the man who started from P1 on Saturday – Mercedes rookie Kimi Antonelli – in third.

Between them, alongside Verstappen on the front row, is Sprint winner Lando Norris, who has McLaren team mate and championship leader Oscar Piastri immediately behind in P4. Similarly, Mercedes’ George Russell lines up aft of Antonelli in fifth.

McLaren’s Lando Norris will start in second place after winning the Sprint race a day earlier, while his teammate Oscar Piastri – the leader in the drivers’ standings ahead of Norris and Verstappen – will start fourth.

It is Verstappen’s third pole of the season from six races after a stunning lap to deny Norris P1, with Kimi Antonelli slotting in behind.

World championship leader Oscar Piastri is fourth, his worst-result of the season, with Lewis Hamilton down in 12th for Ferrari after a messy qualifying, although he did finish third in the Sprint.

On Sunday morning, Alpine broke parc ferme on Pierre Gasly’s car with suspension changes, meaning he is to start from the pit-lane.

The Australian was fourth, with Lando Norris backing up his win in Saturday’s sprint with second, only 0.065s off Verstappen’s pace.

Teenager Kimi Antonelli sprung the surprise of the season so far by taking pole position for Saturday’s sprint race in Miami and continued his brilliant rookie campaign with third place in qualifying, 0.002s shy of Norris.

Verstappen was penalised 17th in the Sprint, earning a 10-second penalty for an unsafe release on Antonelli, dropping him from fourth on the road.

Lewis Hamilton is only 12th for Ferrari following a disappointing qualifying, but can he climb into the points in the Sunshine State?

Antonelli followed up his pole success in Friday’s Sprint Qualifying to take third, marking the Mercedes rookie’s best result yet in a Grand Prix Qualifying, while Oscar Piastri had to settle for fourth in the McLaren ahead of Mercedes’ George Russell in fifth.

Carlos Sainz led Williams’ charge in P6 from team mate Alex Albon in P7, while Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc bounced back from his pre-Sprint crash to take P8. Haas’ Esteban Ocon claimed P9 in his first Q3 appearance for the American squad, with Red Bull’s Yuki Tsunoda rounding out the top 10.
